Parental & Minor Use Policy

1. Purpose of this Policy

This Parental & Minor Use Policy explains how Excellent Me App VOF (“Excellent Me,” “we,” “our,” or “us”) allows parents, guardians, caregivers, teachers, schools, and other authorized adults to use our app, website, content, exercises, activities, journals, AI-supported features, and related services (together, the “Services”) in connection with children and minors.

This Policy should be read together with our Terms and Conditions, Privacy Statement, Cookie Policy, AI & Wellness Disclaimer, and any subscription or refund terms. If there is a conflict between this Policy and another policy, the provision that gives children and minors the stronger protection will apply, unless applicable law requires otherwise.

2. Who may use Excellent Me

Excellent Me is intended for adult users. You must be at least 18 years old, or the age of legal majority in your place of residence if higher, to create an account, purchase a subscription, use AI features independently, or submit personal information through the Services.

Minors may view or participate in child-facing exercises only when an authorized adult is present, actively supervising the activity, and responsible for deciding whether the content is appropriate for the child’s age, maturity, emotional state, culture, family situation, and needs.

We do not knowingly allow children under 13 in the United States, children under 16 in the Netherlands or European Union where parental authorization is required, or any other minor below the applicable digital consent age to create an account, purchase subscriptions, interact independently with AI features, or submit personal information to us.

3. Adult-facilitated child-facing content

Some Excellent Me content may include child-facing language, family activities, classroom prompts, or modeling tips. These materials are designed to help adults demonstrate character strengths in everyday life so that children may observe, discuss, and imitate healthy behaviors.

Child-facing content is not a child account, child assessment, therapy, diagnosis, school evaluation, behavioral profiling tool, or substitute for professional support. The adult facilitating the activity remains responsible for supervision, interpretation, safety, and follow-up.

4. Rules for parents, guardians, caregivers, and grandparents

When using Excellent Me with or around a child, you agree to:

• supervise the child at all times and prevent unsupervised use of the app, website, account, journal, AI features, or paid subscription;
• use your own adult account only and not create an account in the child’s name;
• avoid entering identifying information about the child, including full name, address, email address, phone number, school name, exact location, photographs, videos, voice recordings, medical details, diagnosis, family court details, or highly sensitive personal information;
• use age-appropriate language and stop an activity if the child appears distressed, overwhelmed, confused, unsafe, or unwilling to participate;
• not use Excellent Me to pressure, shame, reward, punish, diagnose, label, compare, or monitor a child;
• seek qualified professional help when a child may need medical, psychological, educational, safeguarding, legal, or crisis support.

5. Rules for teachers, schools, and youth organizations

Teachers, schools, tutors, coaches, mentors, youth organizations, and other professionals may use Excellent Me only if they have authority to do so and comply with all laws, school policies, safeguarding rules, and parental consent requirements that apply to their setting.

Unless we have signed a separate written agreement with a school or organization, Excellent Me is not acting as a school official, processor under a school-specific data processing agreement, or custodian of student education records.

Professional users agree to:

• obtain any required permission from the school, organization, parent, guardian, or student before using Excellent Me with minors;
• not require a minor to create an account or submit personal information to Excellent Me;
• not enter student names, student IDs, class lists, grades, disciplinary information, special education information, health information, or other education records into the Services;
• use group-level, non-identifying discussions wherever possible;
• avoid public sharing of a child’s reflections, emotions, behavior, strengths, struggles, or responses;
• follow applicable laws and frameworks, which may include GDPR/AVG, COPPA, FERPA, PPRA, local education laws, safeguarding rules, and school privacy policies.

6. Information about children that must not be submitted

To reduce privacy, safety, and legal risks, users must not submit the following child-related information to Excellent Me unless we expressly provide a dedicated, legally compliant feature and written instructions allowing it:

• a child’s full name, email address, phone number, home address, precise location, school name, student ID, username, social media handle, or other direct identifier;
• photos, videos, voice recordings, biometric information, or image files of a child;
• medical, mental health, disability, diagnosis, therapy, medication, trauma, abuse, neglect, custody, immigration, financial, religious, political, sexual, or other sensitive information about a child;
• journal entries, AI prompts, support messages, or contact forms that identify a child or describe a child in a way that makes the child reasonably identifiable;
• data about a child for targeted advertising, profiling, scoring, automated decision-making, or behavioral monitoring.

7. What happens if child personal information is submitted

If we learn that a child has created an account, used AI features independently, purchased a subscription, or submitted personal information without the required adult authorization, we may suspend or delete the account, remove the information, restrict access, request proof of adult authority, or take other steps reasonably necessary to protect the child and comply with law.

If a parent or guardian believes that their child submitted personal information to Excellent Me, they may contact us at info@excellentme.app. We may ask for information reasonably necessary to verify the request and the adult’s authority before disclosing, correcting, restricting, or deleting the relevant information.

8. AI features and minors

AI-supported features are intended for adult users only. Minors may not use AI features independently. Adults must not allow a child to have a direct, unsupervised AI conversation through Excellent Me.

When using AI features, adults must not enter identifying or sensitive information about a child. AI outputs may be incomplete, incorrect, inappropriate for a specific child, or unsuitable in a sensitive situation. Adults are responsible for reviewing and adapting any AI-generated suggestion before sharing it with a child.

AI features do not provide therapy, medical advice, diagnosis, crisis counseling, child protection advice, legal advice, or professional educational assessment. If a child or family is in danger, at risk of self-harm, experiencing abuse or neglect, or needs urgent support, contact local emergency services or a qualified professional immediately.

9. Emotional safety and appropriate use

Excellent Me is designed to support reflection, character strengths, well-being education, and positive role-modeling. It should not be used to force disclosure, extract confessions, discipline children, monitor compliance, make clinical judgments, or replace the judgment of a parent, guardian, teacher, physician, therapist, counselor, social worker, or other qualified professional.

Adults should choose activities that match the child’s developmental stage and emotional readiness. A child should always be allowed to pause, opt out, ask questions, and receive reassurance. If an exercise makes a child more distressed, stop the activity and provide appropriate support.

10. No targeted advertising to children

Excellent Me is not designed to target advertising to children. Users must not use the Services to collect, upload, infer, or share child data for advertising, behavioral profiling, retargeting, or commercial targeting. If we introduce features that involve child-directed services or child accounts in the future, we will update this Policy and implement legally required protections before launch.

11. Parental rights and requests

Parents and legal guardians may contact us to request information about suspected child-related data, request deletion of child-related data, object to processing, withdraw consent where applicable, or ask questions about this Policy.

Please email info@excellentme.app with the subject line “Parental Request” and include enough information for us to understand and verify the request. For privacy and safety, we may not disclose account information unless we can verify the requesting adult’s authority and identity to a reasonable degree.

12. International age and consent rules

Because Excellent Me may be used in different countries, age rules may vary. We apply a protective approach. Accounts, subscriptions, and independent AI use are limited to adults. Where local law imposes stricter child privacy, parental consent, educational privacy, age-assurance, or safeguarding requirements, the stricter requirement applies.

For example, the U.S. Children’s Online Privacy Protection Act (COPPA) applies to certain online services directed to children under 13 or services with actual knowledge that they collect personal information from children under 13. Under EU and Dutch privacy law, children receive special protection, and parental authorization may be required for online services depending on the child’s age and legal basis for processing.

13. Account sharing and devices

Adults may not share their Excellent Me login details with a child. If a child has access to a device on which an adult is logged in, the adult is responsible for restricting access, logging out, using device-level parental controls, and supervising use.

14. Community, sharing, and social features

If Excellent Me offers sharing, community, testimonial, classroom, group, or social features, users must not post, upload, or share information that identifies a child or reveals a child’s emotions, behavior, family circumstances, school situation, health, reflection answers, or other personal details without appropriate legal authority and consent. We may remove such content and restrict accounts that violate this rule.

15. Safety reporting

Excellent Me does not monitor all user content, journal entries, or AI conversations and is not an emergency service. However, if we become aware of content that suggests imminent harm, abuse, exploitation, or serious safety risk involving a child, we may take steps that we reasonably believe are appropriate, including restricting access, preserving relevant records, contacting the account holder, or reporting to appropriate authorities where permitted or required by law.

16. Changes to this Policy

We may update this Policy from time to time to reflect changes in our Services, AI features, legal requirements, app store requirements, or child safety practices. The updated version will be posted in the app or on our website with a new “Last updated” date. If changes are material, we may provide additional notice where required by law.

Appendix A – Practical guidance for adults

To use Excellent Me in the safest way with children, follow these practical rules:

• Keep the account in the adult’s name.
• Use first names or neutral descriptions in conversation with the child, but avoid entering identifying information into the app.
• Read child-facing language before sharing it.
• Never ask a child to reveal something they do not want to share.
• Use the app to model behavior, not to control behavior.
• When emotions are intense, start with calm, safety, and connection before reflection.
• Do not use AI outputs with a child without adult review.
• When in doubt, choose less data, less detail, and more human supervision.
